Tasks and Objectives

The central task of the institute is to pursue fundamental research and innovative concepts in the field of radar sensor technology. Essential objectives are the identification of lack of expertise, and the definition of projects referring to this deficiency within the framework of the institute’s basic funding. Further objectives concern the transformation of applied research into realizable and capability increasing methods of radar sensors.

Additional project funding allows the processing of defence technology related tasks linked to timely or near future problems of radar senor technology. This extra funding is used to achieve a performance gain to the benefit of the sponsor (client).

The scientific expertise attained within the scope of the research work enables a continuous knowledge transfer into the defence industry in the area of MoD funded R&D projects. It further provides for a substantiated judgment and consultant capacity of FHR.
