The Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR investigates concepts, methods and systems for electromagnetic sensors, particularly in the fields of radar and radiometry. Innovative signal processing methods and sensor technologies are developed for the microwave to the lower terahertz region. The institute´s competence covers almost every aspect of modern radar technology and practically all radiometry techniques.

The crash of another large satellite is imminent once more. Fraunhofer researchers predict that the defective Mars orbiter Phobos-Grunt will re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere between January 15 th and 17 th , 2012.
